Proposition 65 protects California's drinking water from being contaminated with chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. California businesses are required to inform the State of California about exposures to such chemicals.
As part of Proposition 65, the state is required to maintain an updated list of chemicals known to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity.
